Join Domegaia this July under Alaska's midnight sun - our farthest northern workshop to date!
Together we'll build an Aircrete dome on a
professional job site in a positive community setting.
Our Host: Shpongolia Farms on Sunshine Road
Bill Thomas and Kirsten Geiger are cultivating a homestead in beautiful Talkeetna, Alaska where they grow their own organic food, sell start-up plants, accommodate travelers, host community workshops and play disc-golf on their own 18-hole course!
Talkeetna, which means 'where the rivers join', is a quaint town nestled in the foothills of the Alaska Range at the convergence of the Talkeetna, Chulitna and Susitna rivers. It began with the rise in gold prospecting and was chosen as a district headquarters for the Alaskan Railroad in 1915. It is now known as a climbing hub with the best view of Mt. Denali in the state - mountaineers hoping to summit North America’s highest peak all catch flights out of Talkeetna! As the saying goes, this beloved little Alaskan town is “where the road ends and life begins.”

Workshop Learning Objectives
*Please Note: During the 10-day workshop, we will build a basic dome structure. Instruction includes the fundamentals of pouring, stacking and structural reinforcement of the dome but does not include plumbing, electrical or finishing installations. We will do our best as a team to complete the Aircrete dome during the workshop; however, we do not guarantee completion. Unexpected obstacles such as adverse weather conditions, for example, may affect our progress and prevent the dome’s full completion. |
