Join Domegaia this coming April in Marengo, Indiana, on the beautifully secluded Happy Hollow Homestead .
Together we'll build an Aircrete dome in these wondrous wooded rolling hills
Our Host: Kerry Barbato
"I have been a traveler for most of my life. I have been to 50 states and 7 continents. For some of my traveling years I traveled in a converted school bus which broke down near here. I put the bus in storage and continued traveling. About 6 months later a friend asked if I wanted to chip in on buying some land. I was in California and he was from Florida so we met in the middle at the bus. We didn't plan on getting land in Indiana but while looking at classified ads we saw an ad "60 acre wooded getaway, owner financed" so we decided to look. 3 days later i had 30 acres of land.
I then started working at music festivals around the country. I found myself being near my land so I decided to buy an old tractor. It seemed like it would be a fun way to kill some time between festivals so I started cleaning up the land. I first just cleared some space to park my van that I was traveling in, then decided to build a tree house to stay in.
Traveling and working at music festivals for a lot of my life has influenced the way I have developed the land so far.
I started hosting campers 5 years ago and we have been voted best camping in Indiana the last 4 years."

Marengo, Indiana
Marengo, Indiana is a quaint town in the southern part of the state just a 45 minute drive to Louisville, Kentucky. Though small, Marengo attracts many from all over due to it's plethora of caves to explore, including the most popular, the Marengo Cave. When visiting, if you're not too busy caving, hiking in one of the many state parks, or canoeing down the Blue River, then you're probably enjoying a meal at one of the locally owned cafes in town. Marengo is a great place to disconnect from all your troubles and worries for a while while you soak in all the beautiful nature it has to offer.

Workshop Learning Objectives
*Please Note: During the 10-day workshop, we will build a basic dome structure. Instruction includes the fundamentals of pouring, stacking and structural reinforcement of the dome but does not include plumbing, electrical or finishing installations. We will do our best as a team to complete the Aircrete dome during the workshop; however, we do not guarantee completion. Unexpected obstacles such as adverse weather conditions, for example, may affect our progress and prevent the dome’s full completion. |
