What is a typical workshop day like?
Workshops move at a comfortable pace so everyone has a chance to get involved. There's also time for Q&A related to your personal project. Morning session starts after breakfast and continues again after a leisurely lunch. After dinner we often find ways to celebrate the day's accomplishments!
What should I bring?
Work clothes, sturdy shoes, work gloves, rubber gloves, safety glasses, dust mask, trowel, notebook and pen. Feel free to bring other tools that you think would benefit the workshop. We also love folks to bring musical instruments for bonfire nights!
What are the available accommodations?
Each workshop offers unique accommodations available on or near the site. Workshop hosts sometimes provide free camping for tents or camper vehicles where possible, with bathroom facilities always provided. We post specific lodging and meal options for each workshop on our website. (Please note that workshops hosted at the Domegaia Academy on the Big Island do not offer accommodations or facilities- please check the webpage for a particular workshop under Upcoming Workshops for site-specific details)
Can you accommodate my special diet?
Contact the hosts as early as possible to discuss your specific requests.
I have a disability. Can I still come?
Yes. Everyone contributes at their own pace and ability.
Can I bring my dog?
We prefer you leave your dog at home. In some cases you can make special arrangements with the host.
Can I bring someone who won’t participate in the workshop?
Yes. You need to make arrangements with the host to pay for meals and to make sure there is enough space.
Can I arrive a day early?
Typically students are welcome to arrive one day before and stay one day after the workshop ends. Please contact the host to make arrangements.
When should I buy my airplane ticket?
After you are registered and/or approved to go to the workshop.
